Terms and rules of storage of pink salmon at home
Pink salmon is a healthy and tasty food product. In order to maximize the conservation of valuable substances in fish, you should create the right environment for the product to stay, given the presence or absence of processing (salted or fresh). How, where and how much you can store pink salmon at home, read below.
Shelf life of salty and fresh pink salmon
To begin with, it is worth analyzing the concept of expiration date (SG). This is the period of time, calculated in days, months, years, during which a particular product is suitable for intended use.
Important! Do not confuse two different concepts: SG and shelf life. The second implies a time frame during which the product retains consumer qualities under certain conditions, but may end earlier than the first.
Depending on whether pink salmon was exposed to any type of culinary processing, and also, given the conditions of a particular environment, distinguish such terms:

How and where to store pink salmon?
Depending on how well you approach the storage process, the shelf life of salted fish in food may vary. It is not enough just to place the fish in a specific compartment of the household unit. You need to properly approach this process, given the food neighborhood, packaging, etc.
The most optimal options to save the highest quality product:
- in a refrigerator;
- in the freezer.
Proper storage of salted pink salmon in the refrigerator implies the presence of a certain temperature regime. The expiration dates of the product for use will depend on this. At a temperature in the range 0 ... + 6 ° С - 2 days, -2 ... 0 ° С - 3 months. Any kind of fish has a specific smell that is easily absorbed into other products.
Important! If you bought salted pink salmon in a vacuum package, then until opening, even at a temperature of + 6 ° C, the product can be stored in the refrigerator for a month. After damage to consumer packaging, fish should be consumed as intended within 2 hours.
Given this, do not keep on the same shelf with fish products:
- the eggs.
In order for fish salting to retain its qualities longer, the product must be completely immersed in brine. It is best if the pink salmon will be in a plastic or glass vessel with a tight-fitting lid. This will not only increase the shelf life, but also relieve the spread of fish aroma inside the equipment, which is so difficult to eliminate later.

In the freezer

The process of preparing pink salmon for freezing (relevant for fresh and salty products):
- Divide the fish into pieces of a size that can be consumed at a time. The fact is that after processing with cold, the product cannot be thawed several times, otherwise it will lose consumer qualities.
- Blot the raw material with a paper towel to remove excess fluid.
- Wrap each part separately in cling film and freeze.
- After the carcasses have acquired sufficient hardness, they need to be folded into a vacuum bag, release excess air from it and tightly close.
- Return products to the freezer. To be taken out as necessary and after defrosting to be consumed as prescribed within 2 hours.
The method of storage is not in the refrigerator
In general, at room temperature, it is not recommended to store salted pink salmon, and indeed any other fish. But it all depends on the environment.

A place with such an environment can be a balcony (loggia), a cellar, a pantry. Such fish as salted pink salmon can be stored for more than one day when optimal conditions are created. The longest time will be able to save products in the freezer. But if there is not too much raw material, it is better to limit yourself to a refrigerator - there it will better retain its taste.
